Every morning, between 5:30 and 6:00 we are woken up by the sweetest sound of all: Michelle singing or talking to herself :) Her sweet and small voice brings so much joy every day!

Michelle loves the outdoors, climbing, chasing the rabbit and 2 chickens we got in the base, as well as being the centre of attention and the recipient of many compliments every day. She also loves shoes, clothes and having her hair done…

But not all is fun and laughter, she has the mammoth task of learning three languages at the same time: Mom speaks to her in Spanish, Daddy in Afrikaans and the rest of the people on the base, English. She already says a few words in all three, but our favourite is when, after every prayer we have, does not matter with whom or where we are, she says a very sound and loud “AMEN!” then we know that when all eyes are opened everybody will have a big smile in their face :)

—————————————————————————————–

Brian who…?

That’s “Esterhuizen” and we do undestand if you are having some trouble pronouncing his surname… It also took his wife (Miriam) quiet some time to get it right… Typical Dutch surname even though he is proudly South African.

Brian worked in a Telecommunications Company for many years before he joined OM (Operation Mobilisation) South Africa. In 2000 he joined the Logos II and served onboard for 4 and a half years. Towards the end of his time onboard, he met his wife Miriam (from Mexico) and they got married soon after leaving the ship at the end of 2004. The Esterhuizen’s lived and worked in South Africa for one and a half years with OM’s AIDS Hope Ministry before joining the Logos Hope Team in 2006. Brian serves as the Partner Ministries Director for the Logos Hope. Brian is passionate about discipleship and seeing God’s people reach their full potential. He is a big Rugby fan, enjoys the outdoors and loves a good South African Braai (BBQ).

Brian & Miriam came back to South Africa as director of the Missions Discipleship Training, where they love seeing young people being challenged for missions and committing their lives to serve Him wherever they are

Brian Ester..que… ?

Viva Mexico !!!

Miriam is from a little village in the mountains of North Mexico. She loves the outdoors, good food and socialising (as can be expected from any good Mexican)… Miriam is a primary school teacher by profession and after teaching for a few years she decided to take a sabbatical year and serve as a missionary onboard the OM ship Logos II. Her time onboard was a very good experience for her and it’s also during this time onboard that she received a confirmation that God was calling her into full-time ministry. Miriam has a big heart for people and is very passionate about serving, caring for people and showing hospitality. Miriam works with Brian in the Partner Ministries Division and leads the Guest Relations team for the Logos Hope.

Our Wedding…

Oh Happy Day !

On the 28th of December, 2004 and on Miriam’s parents 30th Wedding Anniversary we celebrated our wedding in Mexico. It was the perfect day: warm and without rain, which was unusual for that time of the year. Our translator for the wedding was a Texan missionary living in Miriam’s home town ! People from the four corners of the village (and beyond) came to the wedding to have a look at the first African they have ever seen in that place (some off course were disappointed that this “african” did not look like an “african” at all, but rather like a “gringo”). Brian received so many “congratulations-hugs”, like never before in his life… Our wedding was indeed a very special occasion and an amazing experience of God’s provision, His faithfulness and His love for us.
